Water that is “hard” contains more minerals than the water we ordinarily use in our homes. The elements of calcium and magnesium especially contribute to the hardness of water, as they are positively charged ions. Hard water is a problem because it results in mineral buildup on your water fixtures and prevents soap and detergent from dissolving properly in your water.
Simply put, a water softener system removes the hard elements to make your water less positively charged. This improves the taste and makes it safer and less irritable to both you and your appliances.
Water softener systems improve the lifespan of your water-based appliances. When hard water evaporates, it leaves behind limescale deposits in your pipes. As these deposits accumulate, they restrict waterflow. They can even block your pipes completely.
Having a water softener system prevents limescale buildup in your pipes, keeping your laundry machines, dishwashers, and water filtration systems working efficiently. This expands the lifespan of both your household water systems and pipes, and can even contribute to improved efficiency of air-conditioner units and other water based appliances.
Both of our water softener series get rid of hard minerals by switching them out with salt. The negatively charged resin bed found in all of our systems collect the positively charged magnesium and sodium ions. This process is known as ion exchange.
Our Green Energy 89 Water Softener Series uses upflow regeneration to drive hard minerals away from the resin and into the drain. Upflow regeneration systems flow water from bottom to top. They are more efficient than downflow regeneration systems. This saves both salt and the unused portion of the resin for future use.
The 89 Series also features a control system with a large, 80-character touchpad screen. You can easily customize your settings however you like.
The Green Energy HTO Uplow Water Softener Series is our premium system. A Complete Water Refining System For Your Home. Rid your water of hardness minerals (calcium and magnesium) plus filter out bad tastes and odor caused by chlorine, chloramines or organic matter.
The two-tank system also saves you from replacing both beds at once when you don’t need to. With the two-tank system, you get the benefits of both an entire water softener system and a whole-house carbon filter in one at a much lower price.
Green Energy water softeners can extend the lifespan of water-based appliances by eliminating the build-up that could harm them. Water softeners can also improve the taste of water and eliminate soap residue when showering, doing laundry, or washing dishes.
Green Energy of San Antonio offers two water softener series. Both water softener systems work by replacing the hard minerals in water with salt. Our HTO Upflow Series is our premium water softener option that improves the taste of water and features a two-tank system.
